I always tell myself
"Never regret anything, because at some point that was, what I wanted!"

Trust me when I say regret is so much more painful than rejection. I missed out on someone so wonderful because I was too proud to say I was sorry. Its been 15 years and I never miss a day that I dont think of him.
At least with rejection you can never say that you missed out on an opportunity. You tried it, it failed, and as hard as it may be, you move on. You may from time to time think of the person that you were rejected by, but the point is, you tried! With regret, what have you to ponder over other than you were too scared to be rejected.
I know it sounds really blunt, but unfortunately you asked the question, I just gave you an honest opponion. Hope it helps!
