A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 December 2009):

Hahah, Kama Sutra is not only about sex! Its also about courting, flirting, how to live respectably, how to treat guests at your house. And also man fun facts if you happened to live in old India, like for example "when you take a bath in the river, watch out for crocodiles". It also features trick on how to hide your lover from your husband, or how to make your husband give you money. The sex positions is a part of it, yes.

Kama Sutra can be bought in many different version these days. I gave one to my younger brother when he was 14. It was not the version with the sex positions, but with the "how to court a woman" hints and tips etc. It's basically a lot of fun to read, and also to learn things from. Although you don't have to watch out for crocodiles anymore, taking a bath is still good routine.

A female reader, celtic_tiger United Kingdom +, writes (13 December 2009):

celtic_tiger agony auntIf your age 13-15 is correct, then you are no where near mature enough to be even looking at the Kama Sutra, let alone doing any of it! Basically it is a book of advanced sexual positions, and sexual advice from ancient India - not recommended for the inexperienced.

I think your boyfriend is either being a hormonal teenager, or doesnt fully understand what it is all about, so is throwing ideas about to look "cool" and "mature". To me, it sounds like he is trying to be the big man, and has probably been watching too many porn videos.

Basically your boyfriend wants to have sex with you. Now, as you are in the UK, remember the legal age of consent is 16 for ANY sexual act (this includes, oral sex, fingering, hand jobs, blow jobs, vaginal sex and anal sex). SO unless you are BOTH over the age of 16, you should not even be considering anything like this. The laws are there for a reason, not to stop you having fun. Respect them.

Wait until you fully understand what sex is all about before you go rushing in to the Kama Sutra! This is something that even the most experienced adults would stuggle with, let alone teenagers who have not yet grasped the full meaning of sex and relationships, and how it affects you emotionally. Sex is about far more than just a physical act.
