Perhaps it should be added that either the man or the woman thus deeply bound in lifelong friendship who seeks marriage must find a still rarer man or woman to wed, to make such a three cornered comradeship a permanent success.thanks

It means it is rare for a man and a woman to become the best of friends for life without ever having a sexual relationship with each other. If either of them finds a sexual partner then that person will have to be extremely understaning indeed. Most people cannot cope with a third person in their marriage or sexual relationship no matter who that third person may be.

The quote is saying that in order to have a best friend you have to have a rare set of people, and in order to have a husband that is okay with you having that best friend, and you all being perfectly open to eachother (i.e. the perfect relationship) would be extremely rare.Over-all, it's saying we're all screwed unless we spend a lot of time looking for the right person, because one person could be your best friend and spouse, right?
