My question is am I actually her best friend or does she not mean it and just says it to impress her friends?? Please help.

When a girl says something she means it. She thinks of you as her best 'boy' mate so it's not as deep as what a girl has with a girl, but its a good thing that she feels this way so don't worry. It shows that she trusts you and that she cares for you don't be paranoid! Make the best out of this friendship!

Impress what friends? This conversation was online how many people over heard the clicking of your keys?
When a girl says you're her boy best friend it usually just means she has a best friend that is a girl already. Take the boy or the girl part out of the picture, a person would state that they 'have two best friends and you're one of them'.
Only a few names really impress in this anonymous online world and they're doubtfully chatting. So don't worry about her impressing friends over who is and who isn't her best friends.
