I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. There are many types of hepatitis and it is very important that you know which type you have. Please go to Webmd.com and search for "hepatitis", this will lead you to information about the various types.
It sounds like your husband is playing "ostrich" and has buried his head in the sand; this will not make the issue go away. Depending on the type you have, he could be infectious and not getting treatment could lead to liver failure. It all depends on what kind you have and what kind he potentially has.
Bring a notepad AND a voice recorder to your next appointment; you may be so upset that you aren't hearing things correctly or completely. Think of yourself as the organizer of your health care, with the doctor providing input. Ask lots of questions, don't be embarassed and don't let him get away with not explaining things so you can understand them. No one will ever care for your health more than you (okay, your mother too).
Take care.
