Without tone of voice or body language and facial expressions, this one is hard to interpret, but I think chigirl probably has it right. That's a bit of a sarcastic comment, really. Maybe stop pushing so hard for admiration? If you like her, ask her out. If she says no, then you can go back to being friends and keep things light and breezy. Women like a self-confident man, but there's a fine line between that and cocky, which is definitely not attractive.

Just taken out of context like this, it sounds like sarcasm to me. You were bragging about yourself which is the opposite of modest.
