A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

My bf has had a female friend for 5 years. At first I was uneasy about the whole thing but as I learned more about her and took my insecurities for working, I became cool with the whole thing.

One evening when she messages, he said "oh she was asking how you were during the week" I thought that was nice. I have not met her though or spoken to her. They are long distance friends. I told him to tell her I said Hello and he did. She text tell her I said hello back and all fine. Yet he has not heard fron her since then. Is this unusual? According to my bf, his friend did ask him should they stop talking when he met me. I dont know maybe it's nothing. Just think its kind of strange to be in contact weekly then nothing after I said hello.

Honeypie agony auntMaybe she is busy OR she was hoping the friendship would lead to move, with him having a GF... that hope got dashed. When he ACTUALLY told you she said hi to you and you said hi back - SHE realized the YOU know about her and see her as no threat, therefore, she knows HE isn't into HER romantically at all.

IF she does have romantic feelings towards him, cutting contact would be smart.

Or she just feel that she is butting in on his relationship by keeping in contact. So she is giving the two of you some "space".

It's really hard to say or guess, as I don't know her.

Honestly though, I think it will pick back up in time. If they have been friend for 5 years and kept in contact, as he probably dated? before you as well?

I would leave it alone. They are the people who are friends, they can sort it out, or not.

You did nothing wrong, it was polite in saying - oh tell her hi back.
