Question - (18 April 2009) 5 Answers - (Newest, 18 April 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Earlier today at school my friend offered me strawberries to eat. I said sure I will eat some. I asked my friend for a fork because my hands was dirty. So then my friend searched in her backpack and gave me a fork. This was when the classroom was dark and I could not see what was on the fork if it was clean or not. We were watching a movie in class. My friend told me the fork is clean so I believed her. So then, I used the fork and took 2 strawberries and ate them. After I consumed the strawberries I felt something in my throat, and I don't know what it is. When I cleared my throat I still felt the same thing. It hard to describe. Right when the movie was over, and the lights were turned on I looked at the fork and it was very dirty and unclean. When I got back home my belly and intestine area was bothering me and it felt like pain, I felt pulses like pumping on my right shoulder, and then I felt pulses on my left shoulder, my waist is hurting, and I felt pain below my chest area. The pain I am experiencing is not severe, it is just light pain. At this moment I don't feel anything right now, but I think it might come back. Please help me. I am very worried. Will I be alright?

Do you believe your friend is trustworthy - in the sense that short of the fork being "dirty" she would not have added something to it? Assuming you do - then I would just relax and if the pain is not there think you will be fine. Drink lots of water (purge yourself of all of the dirty fork like stuff) and see if that doesn't help.

I don't know if you tend to be (like a former girlfriend of mine was --- a germa phobe) but it may be more about that then there actually being anything danger on the fork. That being said what you feel is still real either way and stressful so hang in there. Again though I think you will be fine. If you feel sick tomorrow then maybe you could see your doctor. It is probably all cooincidental. Good luck.

Well, personally, I think your friend sucks for lying to you about that fork. I'm sure it isn't anything to freak out too much about; just a 24-hour bug or something. I would be more careful about what you eat your food with, though.
