Today, i was cleaning the sleeping area for doctors when he came out the room and started adjusting his scrubs. He caught me staring and told me that i have a beautiful smile. I asked for his name and he told me. Later today i told him that he is handsome and i was shy. I asked if he was married and he said "kind of". I played real cool and told him sorry. My question is: what did he mean by "kind of" ?

Meaning "yes, but I'm open to an affair". In which, do not engage the married doctor. Or he meant he's not married but he's in a serious relationship, also could be engaged to be married. Either way he's taken.

What I think it means? He's married, he has no intention of leaving his wife, but he wouldn't mind taking a roll in the hay with you.
It sounds like he just wants to keep it ambiguous, so you might think he's free.
Risky territory, I think you should stay away.
