They best way to get rid of it is either go to the chemist and ask for something for cistitus or another things that works is warm water with bircarbonate of soda in only about half a teaspoon. I used to suffer terrible with this when I was in my teens and my mum always gave me warm water and bicarb. Hope this works for you too..[Moderator's note: Please see a doctor before following the advice given here. My daughter had a UTI and the GP did a urine sample which showed an infection and she gave her antiobiotics which cleared it within a few days. Cranberry juice helps to cleanse the lining of the urethra so you could drink that as well, along with plenty of water. Don't wait for the gynae appt because as the other poster said, if infections are left to spread they could cause other problems. It sounds like a simple thing that affects lots of women and if treated early and promptly should go away quickly. Sometimes they clear up on their own but the best thing you can do is go the GP, get a urine sample done and get it treated. Apart from anything else, it's uncomfortable and you don't want to feel like that. My GP said this happens sometimes just because of the way we are designed. It's easy for a bit of dirt or bacteria to get into the urethra or vagina - always be careful when wiping yourself after the loo .. wipe front to back so that no faeces or anything from the anal area get near the front. Don't worry just go to the doctor and sort it out. Good luck.

You might have a UTI (urinary tract infection). It should be ok if you can get it treated very soon.
Don't wait for your gyno appointment...you don't want the infection to spread to your kidneys etc. Treat it now.
And don't rely on home remedies...they won't do anything. A UTI is a bacterial infection and the only way to get rid of it is by taking a full course of antibiotics.
Make an appointment with your GP as soon as possible, they will do a quick test of your urine and if you do have a UTI they'll prescribe you some antibiotics. You'll start to feel better in a day but make sure to take all the tablets.
I hope you go visit a doc as soon as possible.
