What can I use to treat an itchy foreskin?

Question - (13 January 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 13 January 2009)
A male Australia age 41-50, anonymous writes:

The inside of the foreskin of my penis has been a bit itchy the last few days. I've paid extra attention to washing but it doesn't seem to go away and has become a bit red - not the head of the penis just the inisde of the foreskin.

Tonight in washing it I noticed sort of white stuff there, just tiny little bits. Is this some kind of yeast infection?

Is there anything I can use to clear it up such as Tea Tree Oil, yoghurt, Savlon cream or something? Or will I have to go to the doctor?

Thanks so much.

cd206 agony auntSounds like a bit of thrush, nothing to worry about. Wash regularly there and use some anti fungal cream for a while. If you're still having problems after a week or so see the doc.

k_c100 agony auntIt sounds like you could have a yeast infection and the best way to treat this is to go to the doctors where they will prescribe you with a pill and some cream to treat it.

Dont use tea tree oil whatever you do! Thats only good for drying out oily skin....that will probably burn if you try that! The best thing for you to do is go to the doctors, home treatments will only make it worse and the docs will be able to sort it out much quicker than you could at home.

Good luck!

It sounds like an infection of some sort. Just wash frequently with plain water for a few days. If it doesn't go away or gets worse, a trip to the doc might be the best idea.
