A female reader, AgonyAunt22 United Kingdom +, writes (21 April 2011):

I usually have this happen to me, but it's usually the other way around. Its people i like who don't like me. So i know that if you just drop little hints to get him to back off it will just hurt him. Try talking to him, tell him you don't like him as more than a friend, if he doesn't accept it and things turn awkward then maybe thats meant to be. Let him know that you like him as a friend and make sure he understands how you feel to avoid anymore confusion.

Best of luck

Fern.
