A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Been on microgynon 30 for about 3 years now. I've slowly become fed up with it, took it to lighten periods and ive become unorganised(joining packs together without breaks, missing them) and I've decided to come off it now as I hate pumping my body with hormones and its affecting my moods . I'm just scared about what's going to happen next. I came off it last week , had a withdrawal bleed , now it's finished and I'm not sure what's going to happen now. Do you get your first real period straight away? Does it take a while? I work long hours and I'm so frightened it'll start unexpected at work .. And then I have to travel two hours home each day...

Also any body changes? Like acne returning or pains, breasts getting smaller, losing weight etc?

Any advice would be appreciated! I don't want to put my body through it anymore but I don't know what to expect now. I really don't want a period straight after a withdrawal bleed.

My bleeds last a week and my periods used to last the same amount of time too, so it'd be so frustrating if it did :(

Also I am wearing night pads for withdrawal bleeds they are large and very uncomfortable but I'm scare of leakage..is it going to get even worse now for a real period.

Thanks for your advice I feel a bit lost

oldbag agony auntHi

Everyones different. I just lost weight and thats it really, that was after 10yrs on it.

Carry spare tampons and panty liners etc your period will just settle into a new routine.

See the Nurse or GP at your practice if you have concerns

person12345 agony auntMy period only started earlier when I stopped mid-pack, the other times nothing unusual, boobs shrank, otherwise no changes. I've started and stopped them three or four times now.

If you are worried about it starting early, try a Diva cup, they are awesome. You can also wear pantyliners just in case.
