DO NOT make yourself vulnerable, away from everyone, all alone. Get to know him personally first, go out on a few dates, take things slow.
Tell him it's your first date together, and you'd like to go out somewhere. A casual dinner out on the town sounds perfect to me. He should respect you and your decision, and if you say "No" to inviting him into your home, he should definitely respect that if he's planning to keep you around. Good luck!
