Hunnie,
I'm guessing that this is your first birthday as a couple. I had to work on my wife's first. Things are a little different now that you are on your own. Auntie Bim had a good suggestion for you on waiting till the weekend. It seems that your husband understands how important birthdays are to you, make sure he understands everything you expect, but be prepared to be flexible as young couples often don't have much extra money. When you get closer to my age you will wish everyone would just forget your birthday.

Do you have someone who could watch your child for awhile? Maybe you could get a family member or girlfriend and go for a manicure, or a pedicure, or go see a "chick" flick. Pamper yourself in a small way, and wait till your husband is off to celebrate.

I'm not sure why you would expect your husband to take the day off for your birthday ..... and unless he works seven days a week there is no reason why you cant wait until the weekend to celebrate together, otherwise just do your normal stuff during the day with your baby and when husband comes home from work have a special dinner to mark the occassion.
If you want more what about organising a coffee morning or something for other young mothers in your area, or for your female relatives to come and visit for coffee and cake.

Cant your husband meet you for lunch?
Treat yourself to a spa day or makeover day, pamper yourself.
Hope you have a good birthday!
