 Well, I guess everyone is different with the hugs they give to people. I give side hugs (hip to hip, shoulder to shoulder) to people I'm not particularily interested in. i give dude hugs (right shoulder to his left shoulder and shaking hands) to guy friends. I give full frontal hugs (self-explanatory) to girls I like and family. Last but not least, I give sneak attack hugs (hugging from the back) to my girlfriends.

 I think it comes more down to the individual guy then to any "types" of hugs.
I have had a lot of male friends and they all hugged differently, same goes for boyfriends.
I wouldn't try an analyze them honestly, it's a hug and hugs are just lovely.

I had a male physician hug me when he thought I was upset with him and I thought it was kinda weird. Chest to chest for about 2 minutes--awkward and strange. . .

 I hugged a female work colleague who left a while ago. It wasn't a big strong hug, but light and quick - a show of affection I guess, as well as to say goodbye. - I was very fond of her and sad to see her go.
This was different to the hug i gave my brother whom I'd not seen in nearly a year. Despite being a man, it was a show of affection to family - a bit of a 'bear' hug I guess.
