I have no problems but I am older than 90% of my work colleagues. I have NO issue with younger colleagues, my boss is 9 yrs younger and shes fine.

but i'd like tips on getting on better with them. My workplace is super cliquey, I have no wish to

be "part" of these cliques..(which are all ages not just young) but would just like some tip, please.

I already say hi and bye to all, and I make small talk with those who wish to talk, I do not talk much to those who wish not to,(as that would be pointless) but am always polite and offer help etc when asked.

I am aware cliques are in ALL workplaces..

I am a quiet, average, worker, I do my best and no more senior than anyone..have been there for years and am no threat to anyone..

and no, bringing in food is not an option, too many picky people, special diets etc.. and others seem to have that "job" and I wold be overstepping if I did it..

need tips please.. and I don't want to "suck up" that would look awkward and obvious

aunt honesty agony auntYou seem to have it worked out on being friendly to those you work with, why not invite people out for drinks after work? Or even for a coffee?

From your letter, you seems to be doing very well indeed. The point that stands out most here,is that you are being yourself while being nice, friendly.and chatty to those who want to talk and doing a good days work.No employer,or work-mates can expect anymore. The great advantage of being OLDER is that you have the widsom of the years, which you are displaying in the workplace. However would you consider meeting a work-mate after work to go to a film,a cuppa.or a play or perhaps a walk.Well done you.Best wishes for the future.NORA B.
