I lost 25 pounds in about a month's time. The food doesn't taste that great, but it does work and the way they balance out the carbs and protein keeps you from being hungry or feeling shaky while you are drastically cutting back on your calorie consumption.
I know it's kind of costly, but it's cheaper than stomach surgery, or a heart attack. But after you lose the weight, you have to modify your eating habits. I usually eat only 1/2 of everything on my plate these days, and I try to skip dessert, unless it's a special occasion. If you feel guilty about throwing away uneaten food, take it with you in a small box and have it for dinner...or breakfast the next day. Also, I recommend exercise, especially light weights. They tone up your muscles so you don't look flabby while you're losing weight. Good luck!!

hi, my advice is to join a local Rosemary Coley fitness club its nothing like sitting in a room with weights around you, your with other people and you can do all sorts of dance like aerobics and salsa...its fantastic ...it may sound stupid but my mum tried it ...she had been trying to loose weight for ages, its fantastic she weighs practictly the same as me now.she has lost 4st in about 8 months now.
its also a good way to make friends and have fun, you also go on trips, most recently to center parks, there are lots of videos and cookery books all over the place you can even sign up to her magazine, i hope this comes in usefull, thankyou
p.s. if you have a relationship you and your partner could do the dance together.

I have to agree with the anonymous female writer who has the personal trainer. . . and not the aspirin diet soda regimen of "Eyeswideopen" (that sounds dangerous).
You have to eat properly and exercise. It's that simple.
Follow anonymous female's advice and you have to lose weight. . . and you'll be a lot healthier too. Stay away from processed foods also!
Good luck!

Eat breakfast, do not skip breakfast whatever you do. It should consist of healthy things not bacon and fats. Try eggs, milk or orange juice. Or a bran muffin, you can sprikle some cinnamon/sugar on it if its not too tasty or try a multivitamin shake or one from a jamba juice.
I love 10 lbs in 2 weeks by having a strawberry/banana smoothie with flax seeds and multivitamins i made at home. For lunch a big salad (i dont eat meat but one with chicken is good but make sure its grilled not fried) a lot of fast food places have these now. The dressing should be a vinagrette to cut down on the calories and eat dinner before it gets too late 18:30 or 6:30pm was what i set my goal at. Do not eat after that! I also tried to be physical in some way or another for at least an hour per day for 2 weeks. Sometimes id workout for a few hours or go hiking all day but make sure your heart rate goes up for about 20 minutes per day. Starving yourself actually makes things worse, you lose energy, and are more likely to gain the weight back later if you starve yourself... I recommend joining a class either dance, or aerobics it helps when you are with a bunch of people working out you tend to push yourself harder.

reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2006): I am paying per month for a personal trainer, so here is my program to you for free....If your weight has been the same for a few years, you are at a maintenance level...the only way to lose weight effecitively and keep it off is to reduce your calorie intake per day by 300 to 500 calories or so, you can use caloriefreak.com to track your daily calories and keep yourself honest, buy a food scale and weigh your portions....you can eat beer and twinkies and lose weight if you reduce your calories daily, however not nutritionally sound.
Foods to eliminate: anything with high fructose corn syrup in the ingredients, the body turns it to fat, and it interferes with a naturally ocurringn hormone leptin that signals your brain that you are full. Don't eat the "low fat" version of foods on the market shelves, as they are higher in calories than the full fat model, the fat has been replaced with sugar....just reduce your intake of these fatty foods...butter is healthier than margerine, and "SMART BALANCE" is healthier than butter or margerine and tastes good too. Just reduce your normal portions to about half and you will be reducing calories..Avoid all alcholoic beverages as they are very high in calories. Eat as many raw veggies as you want as they are great for you and negligible in calories.
Step up your aerobic excercise, start with 20 min at least 3 times per week get your heart rate up around 120-140 bpm for the duration, walking, biking, eliptical machines, stair steppers, dancing, anything to get you moving. Start lifting weights as muscle burns more calories than fat, you will change your body composition this way and will be able to increase your metabolism with increased muscle...Expect to lose about 2 pounds per week, as muscle weighs more than fat, and you will notice your clothes are looser, even when the scale is not budging much!
It is always wise to get a doctor's exam before beginning any excercise program.

My way isn't the healthiest but it is very effective, Skip breakfast and lunch, Drink diet soda, take aspirin with caffeine in it, eat a very light dinner. Do this until you reached the weight you'd like then drop another 5 lbs. You can then eat a light lunch and light dinner. Start the regime up again if you start to gain more than 5 lbs. back. As I said it probably isn't the doctor recommended way but it sure works for me.

You've tried everything? Thats strange because all these diets work.
What you need is 100% compliance.
Dont put yourself in a situation where you can not comply.
Dont wait until you have energy to workout- its always at 8am. Dont put off your workout because everyone from the office is going out. Those workouts never get rescheduled.
Dont put yourself in a position of wondeing what you should have for dinner. You should know that a week in advance.

reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2006): I lost 2st 10lb in a year. I bought a sit up exercise machine. I walked my son's dog for an hour per day. I bought Gillian Mckeith book and followed the detox days to the letter. I cut out all the rubbish i ate. No cake, biscuits or crisps. I snacked on pumpkin seeds and various nuts. I had bad days and it took me about one month before any weight dropped off. That was pretty hard. I drank as much water as I possible could. Now one year later the weight has stayed off. I still eat very sensibly and treat myself to chocolate and crisps once a week. We always have a take away once a month. All in all i am chuffed with myself.
This worked for me. Not everyone is the same. I wish you well. Take care.

A fad diet may work in the short term, but as soon as you come off it it'll all go straight back on again.
Healthy eating and excercise will not only shift those extra pounds but also make you physically and mentally healthier.
Give it a go, it'll work for sure...
