If he's trying to keep the relationship going, that's a good sign. He's probably got other goals, but at the same time, is willing to balance it out. Just because he's in another state doesn't mean that he doesn't love you or care about your opinion. He may be trying to reach new heights in his career, so as to make a better life for you two in a few years. Give it some time. Everything will work itself out.
