writes: I've been dating a guy for almost three years. We got engaged about a year and a half ago but two months later he freaked out and we broke up. A month later we got back together but he said he just wasn't ready to get married and to give him a few months. We've never really discussed what happened and a year and a half later we are still dating. Am I a fool to stay with him? I love him, I want to be with him but I can't wait forever.

reader, anonymous, writes (23 May 2005): Getting married is stressful...and his run and hide reaction is normal..if he has told you he is not ready , believe him....but you definately have to sit down and talk about what your wants, needs and expectations of one another are....If you are in a hurry to get married he is probably not the man for you, given the fact that he has already said he is not in a hurry.
