p.s. I meant 'absolutely' it's happened to someone else - not 'absolutely' you should be worried!!!

Absolutely. It's totally possible, and has happened to me not once. I think it's also to do with the position of your cervix, and the time of the month. At certain times the cells on the cervix are more sensitive/liable to bleed. And if you're pregnant - boy - I had it that even the gentlest sex set those cervical cells off!! You might also have a little tiny like abrasion on the cervix (can't remember what it's called now, but has a special name) - almost like a little pimple - and that will bleed very easily. And/or his fingers are grazing the side of your vagina.
If it helps: I had a boyfriend with whom I would say 3 out of 10 times of having sex I saw a bit of blood. But with my current partner of one year, that never ever happened. I think it's all to do with where they 'put' themselves, and the way your cervix is feeling! But hey, fingernails, yes, very good chance it's just that.\
Go to the doc anyhow and let him/her have a quick look at your cervix. I'm sure it's fine, though : )
