A male United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

So, i met this girl in 9th grade today, and she apparently found out my name by me drawing it on the marker board when i went to the restroom during language arts class, and she says "hey christopher!" in a loud, playfull/obnoxious, voice, and i returned with "Hi!" and we just did little stuff like that back and forth for a while, and then randomly she said "hi christopher!" a few minuts after we stopped talking, and i just randomly said "wsup baby?!" and her and her girlfriends went nuts with laughter and whispering, and i dont want to make this thing to long but after a while i called her sugar lips, baby and country girl, and she didnt seem botherd and continued to talk and play around with me, and after i called her sugar lips she turned to her girlfriends and started saying "thats my new boyfriend" in a joking manner, and sometimes she would say "hey boy!" and other little names on me, so obviously were flirting and theres a chance she finds me "interesting" and stuff, stuff but do you think calling her sugar lips and baby even jokingly before i even know her real name is taking it to far?

I don't think so, no. I mean, she seemed to be okay with it. You were both just joking around, and I think she was probably fine about that.

Maybe you could approach her and try talking to her, to get to know her better. It sounds to me that she will probably be interested in getting to know you, so why not go for it? Good luck! x

busy04 agony auntI don't think it's a huge deal.

If she found it offensive or something, then she'd say it, but seeing as she responded in a pretty laid back way, she's fine with it.

But if you aren't fine with or whatever, why don't you find out her real name? Ask her. And if you don't want to give off the wrong impression to her, then maybe you should stop with the nicknames just for a while and just approach her in a more cordial way.

But yeah, find out her real name though, so you can keep it friendly & keep it moving:)
