writes: i have a group of four friends who are all male,they have been very very good friends. now two of them want a personal affair with me or want to start up a relationship which could go as far as marriage. now those two are not very good friends as before.when people are around them they pretend, but when they are just two of them they now never speak to each other like before. They both have weaknesses that i see. there is one who is very intelligent and tries to show me that the other is not intelligent. he goes ahead to ask him tough questions which this one fails to answer and so the other one tries to show me the other's weakness.i personally have never been in a relationship and so i am confused because i dont want them to lose the friendship that they had before because of me.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 November 2008): Then you tell them both you want to meet them or when it's just the three of you, tell them they must stop the situation they're doing or else you're not sure if you can be friends with neither of them. Tell them the only thing you want from both of them is a freindship, nothing more but they are making it awkward to be friends with either of them as they are always trying to show each others weaknesses which you're not botherd about. Tell them if they can't get on then you can't be friends with them. If they care that much then they'll stop it.
