Hello!

I just was wondering because it is something that I noticed and I'm hoping that the men and women can help me with this. Right before he is about to come, literally a few seconds before he starts trembling. Is that normal? Just wondering!

Thanks!

A male reader, daletom United States +, writes (15 June 2010):

I think we're discovering that orgasm is actually a rather complicated process for both men and women. It involves a long list of hormones, enzymes, pheremones, etc released in various amounts in sequences that vary slightly among individuals. There's also a significant range of ways that individuals experience, and express, their orgasm.

A guy's orgasm actually begins before he ejaculates. Guys get a "point-of-no-return" feeling, and sensations in the pelvic and genital area, before the semen is released. Physiologically, his urinary tract is re-configuring itself to eject his semen, rather than the default arrangement that is set up for urinating.

Your guy may start his trembling while this happens. I often have a whole-body quiver or two before my ejaculation contractions start - many guys get an all-over muscle tenseness and get completely still when their orgasm starts.

Don't worry about whether it's "normal" or not. (Most people use "normal" as a synonym for "typical" or "average".) Hold him and enjoy his climax along with him, knowing that you had an important role in bringing him this pleasure. As you gain experience as each other's sex partner you will both learn where, how, and when to touch during each other's orgasm to enhance the sensations.
