The problem is that her family will try and get her married not after 25 or 26 years of age but i will still be pursuing my higher studies at that age and so wont be able to talk about our relationship at home since i wont be having a secured income and status and all. We both come from families which are very similar in thinking, caste and not overly conservative. Please suggest some solution so that we can get married and that too in time. yes an early engagement is a possibility, but that brings my social status and financial position into question since i will be a student.

I'm not sure about your customs there, but is it possible to have a loooong engagement?
