A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok, first off... I do realise how silly this is going to sound, I just wanted other peoples opinions on it to help get a better perspective.

My boyfriend and I have a long distance relationship while he's at Uni.

We both have myspace accounts, and he gets a lot of attention from girls, which I can deal with most of the time. But today I was looking through some new pictures he'd posted and noticed that a certain girl had commented on them all, very flirty messages... my curiosity got the better of me and I looked on her profile. She's put him as her top friend, and her status says that she misses him (as he's coming home and has no internet access) even though she's never met him and only talked to him for about a week. Now, I'm really confused as to what signals he's putting out there because she seems to be really into him, and he isn't the type to encourage it, but I do think he flirts without realising what he's doing, because what girls call flirting, he thinks is being friendly.

I've been best friends with him for five years, and he's very anti cheating and lying and things like that, but I just wonder what he's done to make her say the things she has been, because it's making me feel jealous, and I'm not typically a jealous person... or am I just being paranoid and she's reading into it too much?

Any opinions on this, or advice on how to handle it would be really helpful to me. Thanks

hey, I posted this. I really appreciate what you wrote. I've spoken to him since I posted this though, and realised that he loves me a lot and it's only the internet, and a girl on myspace. I just find it hard to deal with the jealousy thing because I haven't been like this with past boyfriends. I know I'm still going to wonder about how he talks to her because she seems so obsessed with him...but I won't let it bother me so much. Thanks a lot :)

Amy2007x agony auntHey!

good to know there is other people out there that also look too much into "top friends" lol

I done the exact same thing like 2 weeks ago - I noticed on my b/fs profile this new girl who has jst shot to like No.6 on his top friends ... so i went snooping on hers to see the same thing and to find out that they had exchanged numbers :O

they had also commented on each other photos - as you can imagine I was totally jelous - no wonder????

But basically, nothing ever happened, sometimes we jst all have wee internet buddies, eh?

I have this guy on my bebo who sends me flirty things as a total joke and he is in my top friends and I also have his number

so .. what Im trying to say is, dont look too much into it - Im sure if he was into this girl or she was with him they wouldnt be broadcasting it via myspace! plus, he hasnt ever met her so relax :)

its nothing ...

mail me anytime :)

Amy
