hello everyone during my suppose to be 10th grade year i was taking 9th grade classes and i was considered a 9.5 or a 9th grader so im going to say i was repeating. i really missed up during this year and missed majority of the school year and got kicked out for not being there, now i may have to repeat and there is this summer school where i can receive 12 credits but even then i dont know if it will be enough cause i only had 1 credit in 9th grade and no credits after that. there is a part of me that wants to go get my g.e.d but at the same time there are some down falls cause even though i messed up i want to go to a university and get a really get job. while on the other hand if i do have to repeat( which will most likely be my outcome) i dont know how to cope with it. i dont want to be repeating the ninth grade a second time or repeating the 10th grade i just want to know the pros and cons to getting a g.e.d or repeating a grade and im also 16.

eyeswideopen agony auntI work at a major university in NC and students with GED's are accepted without any problems as long as their SAT score is high enough. SVC is correct GEDs are very very hard and thus are given total respect.

So_Very_Confused agony auntThe GED is very very hard. Harder than high school....

Is there a magnet school that you can transfer to that can help you? they have those here in my state trying to keep kids from dropping out.

You sound like you need way more support than the school system is currently providing. Go to the school and ask the guidance counselor for help to find a better fit for school.

person12345 agony auntIf you think you can make it through, it's always better to repeat a year and finish high school. It will be much harder to get into a university with a GED than with a diploma. Just make sure you go, work your butt off, do well and everything else will sort itself out. Everyone makes mistakes, but an even bigger mistake would be not finishing high school when you still have the chance to.
