A male Australia age 41-50, anonymous writes:

My girlfriend and I just had a nice evening then she asked me something that irritated me.

She was wondering how long it would take for us to rebound and date again if we hypothetically broke up. For me, I am quite clear that it might take a while while she said that it would take her around 6 months... well the answer doesn't matter that much as the question...i wonder why she thinks of that question... especially after i do so many things to show I care... should i expect a bad surprise soon? we've been going out for 8 months now... what do you think?

She was also saying that one of our mutual friend was happy after breaking up with her bf and meeting someone else... i mean why compare? at the end, i asked her if she was happy with me and she said yes and i asked her if she might expect something else eventually and she said, she expects one major thing: me... well i don't know what that means... Am i thinking too much?

i totally agree with 2dare and dream.

however awful it must be for guys to hear, i know girls often ask that question when they want to hear lovely things from their boyfriends, they want to be reassured that they are loved and cared for and that they wont be easy to get over, etc etc.

just be kind and loving with her, hopefully shell become more secure and not need to ask those questions.

good luck, beth x

2dareANDdream agony auntThat is a questions because she may be insecure and she feels you could get over her very fast. That is a hard question to answer when your put on the spot like that. Tell her you love her assuming your saying that. And that is not even on your mind.. That is the best answer I think.

" Honey I love you, and that question has never entered my mind." Give her a hug and a kiss and be real to her.
