My sexual partner is starting her period and came to me worried becuase we started have sex 5 days ago and now it is time for her period and she is having brown discharge. it's the very beginning of your period. the brown colour is blood. it's normal. plus at your age, your body is still getting used to periods, so they probably are not full blown periods. i remember when i first started, i simply had a tiny bit of brown, like how you discribe. so dont worry it;s normal.

reader, anonymous, writes (26 November 2008): technically the brown stuff is blood, and it is the very begining of your period. Its totally normal, most people have a little at the beginning, and I always have a day or two of it at the end. Its just your bodys natural cleansing!
