Hi there, having your first kiss can be nerve racking, the key to not being a bad kisser is confidence, and not missing on the first try. Good luck

I think you just have to go for it and see how it goes! It should all happen naturally, so don't worry!

I think your kissing technique varies very slightly from person to person. It can be a very interactive and intimate thing. As you do it with your boyfriend, you should automatically adapt to each other, and develop a unique way, a way of kissing that you both like.

Try not to consciously think whether or not you are doing it right as it is happening. Just allow it to happen, take it easy and slowly.

Good luck with it, I think it's true that you never forget your first kiss :)

A female reader, Phoebe Halliwell United Kingdom +, writes (17 June 2006):

Phoebe Halliwell agony auntHi,

ok, here to help!

You may feel you’ve seen enough tv tongue action to get a GCSE in snogging. But kissing someone for the first time can be pretty darn nerve-wracking.

The main thing to remember is that kissing is natural - you’ll be amazed how your instincts take over.

First of all, make sure he knows what’s coming. You don’t want to end up snogging his ear.

Once he knows he’s about to get lucky, lean towards him and tilt your head (so you don’t squish noses). Pout your lips, parting them slightly as you press against his lips.

Purse and release your lips, without breaking contact with his, occasionally shifting position so it doesn’t get boring. The first time you kiss, keep it short - less than a minute. Slow down the motion of your lips and finish with a light peck.

When you’ve got used to his kissing techniques, try adding tongues. Your mum might call this a French kiss, but probably best to avoid doing this after a garlic-heavy lunch, unless you’re both as whiffy as each other. In either case, having minty fresh breath will make it a sexier experience for you both.

Start by kissing normally, then gently slide your tongue into his mouth. Push your tongue part way in, using slow, gentle movements.

Practice makes perfect. And you can always claim you’re doing your French homework.

Advanced:

Now try spicing up your technique. Twist your tongue around his, run your tongue lightly along his teeth, over the roof of his mouth and across the tip of his tongue. Dental check-ups aren’t sexy, so keep the probing brief and light.

And creative kissing isn’t just about snogging. Kiss his cheeks and his nose, even his forehead. Pecks still have their place, so pucker up at regular intervals.

Before you know it, you’ll be snogging with confidence.

Helped?

Good Luck!

Phoebe
