Sudden weight loss?

Question - (16 August 2010) 2 Answers - (Newest, 17 August 2010)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I know this isn't a relationship question but i've tried google and they don't understand what i'm typing. Basically I'm worried about the fact that I've recently lost 11 pounds rather quick and I don't do any exercise or even leave my house for that matter. There is no possible way i lost that much weight. I mean I understand maybe losing 1 or 2 pounds due to a very active dance game i've played twice recently but i don't believe dancing would make me lose 11 pounds that fast! I know there's parasites that make you lose weight but when I looked that up most of them came with painful symptoms and I don't feel any pain. Do you think this is something I should be worried about?

The reason i'm asking you guys is because I've always gotten great answers from you no matter what the question. And plus I don't get to the doctor very often at all so I can't ask him these questions.

Tisha-1 agony auntSee your doctor!

Per webmd.com: your symptom and age profile came up with these possibilities: Hyperthyroidism. Diabetes. Exercise. Anemia. Celiac Disease. Chronic kidney disease. Cocaine abuse. Crohn's disease. Cystic fibrosis. Depression. Grief reaction. Inflammatory bowel disease. Malnutrition. Methamphetamine use. Sarcoidosis. Thalassemia. Tuberculosis. Ulcerative colitis. Ventricular septal defect.

You may have something very wrong going on. You may have nothing serious. We won't be able to tell you and you only get the one body in life. Why take a chance with it?

See your doctor! Good luck!

C. Grant agony auntNot to scare you, but you might want to consider getting tested for diabetes, particularly if it runs in your family. That's a disease that can cause rapid changes in weight.
