Sometimes I think about death and it really scares me.

A male United Kingdom age , anonymous writes:

I have had a very good life and enjoyed all it had to offer. I still very much appreciate and enjoy everything that is around me and every day. I have a very good and happy life. However at my age, I am getting closer to end of my life. I don't need to see a psychiatrist or doctor or anything - it is simply a fact that I do not have long left, simple.

Sometimes I think about death and it really scares me. I think either about what lies after - is there an afterlife of some sort and what is it? Or perhaps even scarier the fact that when you die that is the complete end. To not exist at all - that it is the final end and nothing more after. Either option seems scarey and sometimes I feel so anxious to think of it. At times I feel absolutely petrified. Don't get me wrong - I am not being a morbid or depressed. I enjoy every single day and love my life. But this is simple fact that I must face as of course I am so much older now.

Now I am not at all religious - so I would really appreciate to NOT have religious people advising me to find God or Jesus or Allah or Krishna etc or advising me about any religious doctrines etc. I have been through the war, seen many things, people, places etc and have never been convinced about religion back then and still am not and never will be. I respect everyone else's wishes who do follow religions and I have no problem with that and would never try to force my atheist views on that. So I hope my wishes can also be respected in the same manner in that I am not looking for religion.

Anyway hope I can get some replies of some sort on here on how to deal with this in some manner. Thanks.

I think, when someone can't forget a love, what is not active, it can turn to be very harmful obsession. I know ,some people can make a whole life time of fantasy around that not -reachable love, and live a double life. They think about them, even when get married to somebody. I think, its just an ego game. As you get hurt , when someone refuses you, and yiu think you love , but really you just want something what you can't get. If you have a strong ego, you suffer longer. There is a lot of illusion around love, and it could be very confusing. Its not easy, to get out of this, but you can can only do it if you want to. Some people likes that feeling of living in an illusion. It didn't happen to me, but it happened

to someone I know, and she went crazy. She is spending her whole married life in this fantasy, that once she will still get the man she couldn't get 20 something year ago. She went to therapy, and she went into really dark times.Nobody can help, as she wants it this way.. Sometimes we can't find fulfillment, and than we try to live in a fantasy.. Well, this is my opinion, I might be wrong, but I think love is real, not a fantasy. So maybe the best, if you try to go to the bottom of this feeling, and try to to do your best to move on, and find new and true love. I'm sure you will have your turn.. I think it will come to you. Best wishes.

I too have feared death all the time until my great aunt and grandfather passed. I must say there is a spirit world. I've had outer body experiences and was able to see and speak with my loved ones. No im not psychic or crazy. You must look up info on outer body experiences and speaking to your spirit guide. It's very true and I have come to peace that my loved onces are not here in flesh but there spirits live on. =)

Sure some day we all have to part, but I believe love transcends even death.

geechi3 agony auntI don't have any answers for you. But i did want to write you tonight to let you know that I too am fearful of this inevitable event. I am 25 and have feared it since I was very young. Just the thought of not existing....not feeling...i actually get a physical feeling of nothingness throughout my body. It's terrifying.

I am very happy for you that you enjoy every day of your life and take nothing for granted. That's all you can do. Just know that your feelings are nothing but normal! I'm not religious either but I do have some faith invested in me that believes there is something better/different after we go. After all, energy can never be destroyed just recreated..... and that's just what we are!!!!!

I'm sorry, but I won't be able to live with myself if I don't say this. There is a spirit world. There is love and evil. You can give yourself a peace that passes understanding about death.

You can't earn it because it is a gift.

It is Jesus Christ, son of God. He died for you.

Jesus wasn't religious, He was relational...and there's no greater love than to give your life for someone.

Living a christian life isn't the easy road because of the sin in this world, but I have had many joys with the heartache and don't regret my choice. We won't have all the answers until we leave this life, but please consider this in your heart. Caring for you,

A male reader, bfire United States +, writes (30 October 2008):

Why worry about death? Death eventually finds everyone and everything, it is a process that can not be stopped.

You say you enjoy your life? Then you were lucky. This should allow you to leave this existence behind without much regret. Just be happy with the time you had and have. If you lived your life well then you should have few regrets, which is a rare thing!

It is always good to leave when you are happy and at least somewhat satisfied with your life, than if you feel it is incomplete or you are unsatisfied.

You say you are not religious, but you wonder about what happens after death? Most people who follow science know that you will decay and be recycled into the earth. Why worry about an after life (or the lack thereof) if you don't believe in anything that exists after it? You don't want religious answers, but you are asking the fundamental questions that created religious beliefs.

Anyway, besides that, it doesn't really matter what you believe in the sense of religion, so don't worry. What does matter is what you want and what you think exists. This is what your 'afterlife' will consist of. If you think you will meet your mother there, she will be there to greet you, if you think it is Jesus, Krishna, doesn't matter...it will make sense once you are there.

I will try to give you my 'idea' on the afterlife, this is not religious, since I myself could hardly be considered someone that follows religion in its traditional sense.

We are now living in what is called the 3rd dimension. What people consider a 'soul' is a 4th dimensional projection of our 3rd dimensional form. When your 3rd dimensional form is 'dead' your 4th dimensional form usually should transition to the 4th dimension. Your 'consciousness' is transferred with you since you are technically the same being. So for example if you are happy in your life now, you will be happy in your 4th dimensional life. Likewise if you are depressed or full of malice, it will also continue to be the same existence. Granted different dimensions are governed by different rules, so how each thing you feel will effect you also has different possibilities. I guess these differences in existence could constitute as 'Heaven' or 'Hell' or whatever people like to call it.

So yeah, although that seems like a strange explanation. All it really means is enjoy your life! Live it how you will be happiest and how you would like to be remembered. Live your life now as you would like to live it out for the rest of your life...

Hiya

Your Question really made me think. I am only 40 so have no life experience as you will have. Guess you have seen a fair bit of death too.

No one can change your beliefs but i can share personal experiences with you to maybe ponder on?

My life experience so far (non religious) has given me unexplainable events that i can only put down to something else. I have seen death a few times right to the last breath. After a very very close bereavement i physically felt tears been wiped off my cheeks on a number of occasions. (real to me). Also When my grandad was dying he said to my mother ( I can see my sisters and he said my mum was getting father away and they were getting clearer, he put his arms out and died). When i worked at the hospital nursing i have heard a lot of similar stories yes stories are not enough proof.

PROOF will never really happen because it is Faith that we are meant to work with.

I would ask myself whether there is more proof to say there is life after death that NOTHING!

Medical PROFFESSIONS are RESEARCHING something called

NDE'S Near Death Experience's. A great book by DR Raymond Moody, life after death could be worth checking out. Doctor k, Ross is another interesting author of NDE'S.

I would also look at books or on the net about NDE'S, and question why very young children talk about speaking and meeting relatives in another place...yet the child was clinically dead???? A child is not conditioned as much as an adult regarding religious visions maybe?

Adults who have been clinically dead in the eyes of the medical world have also spoke of fascinating experiences and heard and seen the doctors declare them dead. This research is phenomenal in its findings although still not PROOF but certainly swings more for the possibility of life after death than nothing.

Then we have MEDIUMSHIP those who see, hear,or feel spirit ( not really classed as a religion) always questioned but non the less, is again world wide. There will always be the fakes just as in any walk of life but what about the ONES that do this for NO MONEY and travel miles to do it, and above all what about the ones that give such personal information that you must ponder the possibility?

Then we have OBE'S out of body experiences the russians know all about this area ( remote viewing )

What about premonitions where does this info come from?

In my opinion there are A LOT MORE unexplainable experiences that give a HINT at life after death. And i always say PROVE TO ME THAT THERE ISNT??????? that is a lot harder to prove don't you think?

Maybe it all rests in FAITH and not PROOF?

Fear death not and remember you are a spirit in a body, not an empty shell...and something that i always respect and admire in somebody like you...is whenever you did GOOD in your life you did it without the thoughts of REWARDS from HEAVEN like many of us do, you did it from the you of you! and guenuinly.

I hope you havnt passed over while i wrote this long response???? HUMOUR!!! VIA CON DIOS! an adventure awaits freind. x

Were you scared of the time before you were born? Life has a beginning as well as and end. There was a time when you never existed and this never concerned you - So why should you be trouble about the time that will come after.

Also I appreciate the whole no religion angle, however those books even from a nonreligious point of view pack a lot of knowledge on the subject.

Just start getting out there doing things you want to do. You'll have less time to think about it and will have filled your remaining time to the fullest.

Fear not!
