I thought I would go sit with him and introduce myself but my mates would wonder why I am not sitting with them. I haven't told my mates I like this guy as I don't want them to pity me if I get rejected by this guy. I'd rather they didn't know at all, but don't know how to get round this problem. Any advice would be great, thanx.

Fancy yourself as an agony aunt? Add your answer to this question! A reader, LB, writes (6 March 2005): Hi, Does this guy sit in the same place everyday during lectures? Is it a big lecture hall, and are there seats available around him? You could always be a little late to class, and make it seem like the seat next to him was the easiest place to sit down quickly. I don't know if this would work as I do not know the layout of the room, or if he is in a really hard to get to spot. You could just tell your friends, "hey look at that cute guy lets sit next to him", and pretend it was no big deal, but I can see how it would be a little uncomfortable talking to him with all of your friends looking on. Or you could get to class early and choose your seat before your friends get in, and then they would have to come over to where you were sitting. Let me know how it turns out!
