Like you say, he knows when something is on your mind, so rather than leave him wondering what’s going on, let him in on it. It's as much his predicament as yours if you’re not intending to be parents, but if it’s a potentially joyful event he needs to share in that joy.

 I think you should tell him you might be.. Tell him you're not 100% sure.. But, it'll give him time to think so it's not a really bad/unprepared situation later on.. be honest now.
