YES, definitely because if you stop texting him first he will start to wonder why you arent texting him and he will text you first. You then dont text back straight away.

You should always play hard to get. Any guy, no matter how shy, will chase you if he really likes you. Men like challenges that's why they like football, and besides if he chases you he will apreciate you alot more.
