Should I go to see a doctor, or has my body sorted it's self out?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey I'm just asking this for a bit of reassurance, I know how helpful people have been on here on the past and I just want some help. Please don't judge me and only answer my question.

About 4 months ago I had an abortion and my body has been a little out of sorts, I went on the contraceptive pill straight after and ever since my boyfriend and I had used condoms but a couple of weeks ago we decided it would be safe again not to (I wasn't even on the pill last time i got pregnant). But recently my body seems to have magically sorted itself out, and I'm not getting anymore bleeding during my pill (I was before) and no thrush (which I got a lot befofre). I wake up really early needing a wee and get indigestion which is all the signs I had last time I was pregnant. I'm so worried so my question is - do you think it's possible I could be pregnant again? Even though i have been taking the pill as guided for 4 months. I'm so scared. I had intercourse once during the 7-day break, but in the leaflet it says it is safe to do this. Please offer me any alternative explanation for this or your opinion, I'm absolutely worried sick as I'm at university now and only had the abortion in the first place so that I could get a decent life if I ever had a kid. And I'd have to have this one and it would just make the other one a pointless waste of human life :

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (18 November 2008):

It will do you no harm to go to the doctors and get checked out.

The pill can sometimes take a few months to figure itself out so this could all be a side effect of that.

If you have taken the pill properly then the chances of you being pregnant are very small indeed.

Go and have a chat with the nurse at uni and I am sure she will be able to help you figure out what this is.

Good Luck!! x
