I just moved to a new city almost a year ago, and I have found a stable job and living situation and have a good home life going for me, but I have been wanting to get back in college. I have already gone for 2 years, so I am transferring to a school here. The reason why I would wait is because after I turn 24, I can be considered for pell grants on my own without including my parents' income. (which means I will get more money for school that I don't have to pay back vs. going now and taking out loans) Do you think it is more important to go back right away and get done faster, or take my time and save money?

I was able to apply without my parents information. I didn't recieve any Pell Grants at all. Some of my loans were subsadized, but most were not. I don't know your specifics, but in my case, it probably made no difference if I applied earlier or now. If you have the itch now, I'd say go for it now because you never know what the next year may bring.

Honestly, it is hard to find a job you actually want when you don't have a degree. You always end up with these dead end jobs that suck. If I were you, I would go part time, atleast, just so that you can keep your semesters less costly. You can take two classes per semester. That's not too expensive. And in a year, you will have completed 12 credit hours, that's an entire semester you can knock out while working full time. Otherwise you are going to be stuck in some low end, dead end job till you are 24, and still have to work there for another two more years till you graduate. I definitely think you should speed up the process. That way you can get a good job quicker. So yeah I think you should take the loan and go part time if you have to.

Don't think you are "too old" to go back to school at any age. I went back at 36 and have never regretted it. It improved my life tremendously.

Well that depends on you and your personality.
Could you see yourself waiting till you are 24 and then thinking "ah well if I wait another year then I can save money and support myself" then at 26 thinking "well if I wait another year then I can get promoted at work and then work part time" then at 27 "well I've found this great house, if I pay mortgage for a year then I can go back to college and be flexible on payments"...... if so then go back to college NOW because other wise you will never ever do it.
However, if you KNOW college is your aim and you are just thinking a lot more practically then wait a bit, get the grants and avoid as much debt as you can. In the financial situation the world is in now, it will make a big difference.
Good Luck!! xx
