It's nicer and more intimate if you stay together, or shower or bathe together after. We keep what I call "sex towels" in the bedroom...2 clean dry hand towels, 1 for each of us, to wipe off excretions and dab off "wet spots" on the bed! Of course, if you are using condoms (as you should be), you won't have to worry about the "wet spots" so much. But it's good hygiene to at least wipe off somewhat after, then worry about a better clean-up with soap and water later (or the next morning). If you discover you're prone to infections (my sister is, and she has only ever been with her husband), then you might have to resort to a thorough clean-up soon after each time.
When the time is right and you venture into this new territory, enjoy! I hope it is very special for you.

If it makes you feel better, go ahead and clean yourself up. If there was any blood, or discomfort, a considerate partner will gently clean you up.
The cuddle time after sex is usually very intimate. Some guys WANT you to wash up right after - but a LOT of guys feel insulted if you jump up and wipe away every trace of what just happened.

Have you two done enough fingering, oral, etc, that you're ready for intercourse?
