If my husband proposed this as a solution to a 'problem' that didn't exist for me, I'd worry that he had some other medical issues.
As long as you are still being physically close with her, through holding her and maintaining contact by hand-holding, hugs, spooning, those types of activities, I expect she's satisfied.
Most women do not have to have penile penetration in order to enjoy orgasms.
I would instead ask her how you two can remain close and connected and see if she has any feedback for you. She knows better than we do what her 'needs' might be.
