A female United Kingdom age , *inkie1983 writes:

I have not seen him in the last 7 years. He is 62 years old widow of 2 years. I went to shake his hand and he said: 'girl you better give me a hug.' So i did. But, when I went to let go, he pulled me back in, and we hug a little longer. Then I went to let go and he pulled me in a third time and hug me tight. He hug me tight and for a long time, and would squess from time to time. It last 5 or 6 min. We have been friends for the last 40 years. (I played with his younger sister. I am 47 years old.) Note: I was only too happy to give him a hug, I like him. People say he still miss his wife, so I was going to give it 18 months(at this point it had been 16 months ). I don't want to get my hopes up, but if a guy asks a woman for a hug, is it reasonable to think he might be romantically interested in me?? What does the 3rd hug mean?? why did he hug so tight?? And he was not crying, nor did he say anything about his loss wife. What should I do next?? Thank you for any feedback! older man and widow respond if you can, please.

So_Very_Confused agony aunta hug of 5 or 6 minutes would make me very uncomfortable.

there is a guy at work that likes to hug me. he's a dirty old man.

If you are interested him romantically why not tell him?

Sounds like he needed some comfort and physical closeness. My guess is he could well be interested as guys rarely hug for a long time if they are not interested in someone. Maybe ask if he would like to go for a coffee or something sometime, and get chatting and see how things go? If you like him too, then I think you should just go for it - what have you got to lose?!

My husband has an Uncle that does this and he squeezes the young girls hard and they have said he gets fresh so I am thinking he's just another dirty old man?
