I just wanted to know if that age gap is too much to date her. and if it is, does anyone have a good idea of how old she would be for a relatiionship to work out?

 Yes, all ok but as previously mentioned, be careful of the sex side to things. When she is 16 it doesn't mean you have to jump into bed! Be responsible and she will respect you. H.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 May 2008): Three years is nothing to worry about but do wait until she is over 16 before you have sex (depending on where you live). My ex was 6 years older than me and my friends husband is 21 years older than her, so no age is no problem, just be careful and always have protected sex when she is old enough.

 As an age gap, you could do a /lot/ worse than three years.
Go ahead and date her if you like her - so long as you two want the same thing from a relationship, I see no problem.
The only area you could possibly have trouble with is the sex issue - she's underage, so I'd tread carefully there if I were you.
