A male United Kingdom age 36-40, *ndy00 writes:

Me and my girlfriend are having some serious problems, and I think we may be about to break up.

Our problems occurred from Wednesday - Sunday last week. We saw eachother on Monday and Tuesday and everything was fine. On Wednesday and Thursday she accused me of putting football before her because on Wednesday night when we arranged to meet up I was 5 MINUTES LATE after watching the end of a game with my friends. We then went on to have a nice evening. Thursday I was playing football with friends and after a tiring game I suggested we do something the night after instead, given that we had seen eachother 3 nights in a row, but she got really angry about it.

On Friday we had an arguement about the past two days before making up and I paid £50 for a nice meal together out on the town. Then that night ended up getting ruined when we went clubbing separately in groups of our friends. When I lost everyone in my group I contacted her. When she found me she lost all of her friends and then started screaming at me that I'd ruined her night. During that time, this tall black guy tried to get around where she was standing, he budged her out the way and passed by. However, my girlfriend was furious and started shouting at him as he walked away. My first instinct was to try and keep the peace so I simply stood between the two of them, told my girlfriend to let it go and avoid a fight, and the guy walked away and his night probably ended up being considerably better than mine.

It's always been in my nature to be a peacekeeper. I am not violent by nature, and frankly, this tall guy would have probably have destroyed me if something had kicked off. However, my girlfriend is now saying that I never stand up for her. This is the only example she has, but tonight she is saying that she needs a man who will stand up for her, and she doesn't think I have that in me.

We didn't see eachother Saturday night, but during the evening she text me trying to wind me up about attractive guys on TV. I didn't appreciate the humor, but apparently I didn't show that enough, because tonight while she was at a party she sent me texts that "somebody"told her she was "stunning". Anyway, I lost it. I told her that I wouldn't put up with stupid games. Now we're talking about breaking up. Even after all this I don't feel like I want to finish with her, but like I say, I'm a peacekeeper.

Things have been fine for this whole week, but Saturday night comes along and suddenly we are on the brink of breaking up and I'm back to feeling like I'm a crap boyfriend who can never do anything right. I really do try my best, but it feels like nothing I do is ever enough and I always have to do more and more.

There are two sides to every story. I know that her course at university is really hard work, she's tired, stressed, she's got a cold at the moment as well as really bad tooth ache, but surely she can't keep taking everything out on me, can she?

Please advise me. I'm starting to get really stressed out!

as from what your writing.. it seems as if your relashonship is getting a little to serious. from your age i think your young and if a girl is bugging then dont stress it. thats hoew girls are. they make things bigger then what it really is suppose to be. and then when they stress you out, they go home to take care of their business. im going to tell you the truth.. sometimes i enjoy arguing with my boyfrend or any guy that i date. i dont know. but i need to stop cause they end up stop talking to me or think im crazy. just dont stress it and if she continues then still be with her but start dateing and seeing other people until you want to get over her. dont ever make a girl a priority.there million of gorgeous girl in the world and in the county.
