She panicked and ran away when she saw me!

So after months of being ignored and no contact from a girl that claimed was "in love" with me, I ran into her on the bus on my way back from work. When she saw me she turned around as if she didn't see me. I approached and called her name very cheerfully and said it's good to see you. She didn't say anything and turned her back to me. Not to cause any further public embarrassment to myself, I waited to get off the bus. I saw her and confronted her and asked what's wrong with her, and she started literally "running" away. Who does that? I didn't chase after because I would have looked like an attacker, but I was just left there stunned.

I understand why she couldn't be with me (committed to her boyfriend) but to run away like that is perplexing and embarrassing. I don't ever plan on contacting her ever again, even if I ever run into her, but can someone tell me what happened?

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (15 January 2009):

She was being a stupid and love struck girl. She freaked out.

She panicked and ran because she was overwhelmed with feelings when seeing you.

Perhaps her boyfriend found out about her feelings and said she could never speak to you again so that made her run as well.

As you say, I think you should not contact her or try and speak to her again, as she is obviously not ready to deal with her feelings even if that means staying with a man she doesn't love and freaking out in the street.

Silly but sad.

Good Luck!! xx
