On the first date we came back to mine and fooled around, as did we the second time (the next day!) Now I feel I have jumped in too fast and I'm not sure if I like her as much as I thought. I feel like an idiot and need some advice on how to deal with the problem. I don't want her to be upset, it seems she likes me a lot!

Ok it sounds like you're looking for two totally different things. You need a distraction from your ex and someone to help you take your mind off her while you're getting over her. This new girl sounds like she's ready for a relationship and is hoping to have one with you.
Someone's gonna get hurt. I think you need to explain to her that you do like her and enjoy hanging out with her but you wanna take things slowly. and stay out of her knickers for a while! you'll confuse her if your words say one thing and your actions say another.
You dont need to be in love with her straight away and you dont need to have really intense feelings for her from the word go for you to have fun with her. So try not to compare her to your ex or to compare the feelings you had for your ex to what you have for this new girl, just enjoy it for what it is.
take care
