Question - (24 July 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 24 July 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i had the contraceptive implant implanon inserted nearly a month ago. Sice then the only side effect ive had is severe depression and mood swings.

The mood swings are affecting my bf a lot worse than me, i switch from severe depression to extremely happy literally every 10 minutes and he says that it confuses him because he never knows how i will react to what he says/does and that it hurts him to see me this way. Ever since i had the implant i have cried at least 3 times every day for no reason and we have been arguing a lot because i snap at him even when he's done nothing and he feels that his gf isnt there anymore because the implant has changed me so much.

I dont want to get the implant taken out because its reliable and hasn't given me other problems at all however i dont want it to keep causing problems between me and my bf because we love eachother very much and have been together for a year now. I dont know what to do because i could never lose him, i love him with all my heart and i can also see that his is breaking his heart and i cant bear to do that to him. I know the implant takes 6t months to settle down and for the side effects to wear off but i cant put him through another 5 months of this, please help us.

A female reader, Starlights United Kingdom +, writes (24 July 2009):

Starlights agony auntif you want to keep with the implant you have to see this thing through and ride the tough times out.

or the other option is to get it removed and get advice from the doctor for alternative methods but as you say you dont wish to go for this option.

i think if your bf remains understanding of the situation and you remain positive it will be ok and calm down.

good luck
