We lived at a college for kids in their junior and senior year of high school so we lived in the same dorm but had strict rules and on floor times. He was a senior and I was a junior last year so he won't be back next year. I dated a lot of guys before but I have honestly never loved someone as much as I love him, I never say I love you unless I mean it and I have only said that to my family plus him and no one else. He will be going to college when spring comes and will probably be many states away. We haven't seen each other in a month and I cry a lot even though I haven't cried since I was around 12. We miss each other but we won't be able to see each much if at all for a long time, I don't know what to do we call every night but I can't concentrate on my job or homework without him. My friends and family laugh at me and even when I have the time to drive 3 hours to see him my parents won't let me go. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

reader, anonymous, writes (1 July 2010): I am in a similar situation. My boyfriend lives 12 hours from me because he got a new job, and I couldn't go because of school, my job, ect. We've been together for almost 2 years and it's been long distance for over a year. I know how hard it is, I used to cry all the time even though we talked on the phone every night for a few hours before bed. It's just so hard to not have him here. I wish I could give you some great advice, but really the best thing you can do is just think positive - you won't be separated forever! I used to let it interfere with my life because I was depressed but you just can't let yourself do that. Try to focus on other things and remember if it is supposed to work out, it will. Just communicated with each other as much as possible, that always makes me feel better; either talking on the phone or texting throughout the day. I wish I could help you more, I know how hard it is. Just hang in there!
