writes: Hi aunts,Bit of a medical question here, and before I just get a string of comments telling me to go to the doctor, I already have, I'm just interested if anybody has had any similar experiences.Basically I had UTI (urinary tract infection), most likely brought on by sex with my boyfriend. Just to be safe, got tested for STIs, everything came back negative (do I dare say 'of course'!!?). Anyway, the pain from the UTI (while urinating, just feeling really bizarre) has gone away, (thanks antibiotics!) but now my vulva is feeling dry, itchy, and sometimes burns. Could this be the tail end of the UTI, or just a part of my cycle (I just started on the pill and am expecting my first withdrawal bleed right now.)? Or is it likely to be thrush from the antibiotics (no discharge?) I'm treating the symptoms with natural yoghurt/apple cider vinegar (happy bacteria/pH for vaginas!), which seems to have helped to a degree, but not fixed the problem entirely. I'm planning on going back to the doctor soon, but anybody had any similar experiences?Another medical one here, possibly brought on by the google self diagnosis procedure!!I think I had a migraine today (never had one before, zig zaggy disturbance in vision, depth perception whacked, pins and needles, sore eyes then headache on one side of my head), and I've read that if you haven't had migraines before, and experience them on the pill (just started one month ago), then it can be a problem. Anybody with similar experiences?cheers in advance, mervy.

Not a doc, here but I have daily contact with medical personnel of all specialties. I've heard that antibiotics can and do cause vaginal yeast infections, often just upsetting the PH balance of the vagina can cause this. A UTI can be fatal if left untreated, I've never heard of a fatal yeast infection, though. AS you seem to already know, the best advice is: get thee to a doctor, post haste. Could be you have a yeast infection brought on by treating the UTI. Also "vulva" is external tissue. External itching and burning is indicative of infected contact or bacterial in nature. Be absolutely certain you're cleared of any STD infections while you're at it. Don't fool with this stuff.
