I mean to just approach someone like that in a crowded environment not exactly know for its dating might seem a bit odd.I was thinking of just trying to catch her eye first and smile and see if she shows any response? that might be a good start to then say hi, and give her my number? that might be a bit too forward still, but better than nothing...any help or suggestions welcome! This is overthinking! I've had men talk to me and had no idea they were hitting on me. Instead of wasting time and seeing if she makes eye contact and judge that on whether or not you'll talk to her is too much. Either stand or sit next to her and make small talk. Make a funny remark about something and go from there to start engaging conversation. If she seems interested, then ask her if she'd like to meet for coffee sometime or something, and DO NOT give her your number because she probably won't call you and you're the one that wants to go out with her. Get her number and call her to ask her out. The end.

If all is good, you could smile and say "hi" as you or her leave the train. If you get a positive response, the next day scribble your number on a bit of paper asking 'would you like a coffee?' then you name and number. Hand it to her the next time you say hi. The worst that can happen is she doesn't fancy you at all but could possibly make her day. Not everyone gets asked for a date on the tube!
