Pregnancy, bleeding..possible miscarriage?

im 22 years old and 6 weeks pregnant ive been cramping on and off for 3 days and had a bleed this morning im scared and dont know what to do. a friend said i need a d and c what is it?, if ive miscarried how long will i bleed for?
