He said that there's no one down the pub to do it to but then I said thanks and he said he couldn't do with it to me. Anyway the truth is he's got a gf now and the other truth is I don't know what a player is, I've heard of it before but still don't know exactly what it means. Please tell me what a player is.

A player is a term used by men to try and make themselves feel cool.
Basically he means he wants to lie to get sex, he wants to lead girls on for sex, he wants to cheat on his girlfriends to get more sex.
A player is a guy who gets lots of sex but is normally a complete arsehole. Men are impressed by this type of man but they seem to think women will be impressed by it too. (which shows you that players are also not very clever.)
What's he basically saying is "I'm incredibly cool, I will shag anything that moves, but I won't ever treat a girl like a girlfriend or be nice to them after I get what I want."
So you just have to accept that he's a pathetic individual that will probably be riddled with STDs and have 19 kids by the time he's 30 and see none of them.
